01

What's off-gassing

Paints, sealants, adhesives, carpet backing, MDF furniture and acoustic panels release VOCs heavily for the first 4–12 weeks of occupation. Formaldehyde from composite wood is the single compound most commonly detected above guideline levels.

02

Bake-out ventilation

Increase fresh air supply to the maximum the AHU can sustain for the first four to eight weeks post-occupation, with continuous TVOC monitoring. Concentrations typically fall by 60–80% across this period when ventilation is held high.

03

Monitor through the transition

Continuous CO₂, TVOC and formaldehyde monitoring through the bake-out is the cleanest way to manage occupant communications and demonstrate that complaints are being taken seriously.
